English!

Hi everyone, today (actually yesterday but I’m doing today) we should write about our experience with this English course and with English in general. In the first place, I have to confess you that I took this course two time before and I didn´t approve them; the first one because I didn´t like the teacher so I decided don´t keep going, the second time was because I didn´t get the minimum assistance required to pass this course (it was a 75%), so now is my last chance to finish all the English courses because I need these if I want graduate and I must graduate this year.

About this summer curse I liked it very much because was a short curse and more relax one, because you don´t have others educational responsibilities with other subjects (but actually for me was the same because I´m working and these weeks were very hard at work), also was fun because the students were just six and that make it more familiarly and friendly (without mention the nice teacher Andrea) (the last parentheses were a flatterers ones jaja).

I had the prejudice that the University English curses didn´t teach you very well, but in this summer curse I thing that I learned a lot, especially on the details on my writing and spiking. Write on the blogs every day (or the most of the days… jaja) let me practice on my writing and can improve my orthography.

But I don’t talk or write English so well yet, I have grammatical mistakes every time and talk on a Tarzan way when I´m nervous. I would like improve this aspects because I want to go to United Stated for study on two years and for that I need can speak and write (and understand) English easily. 

changes to my study programme

Hi everyone, today we´re going to talk about the changes I would like to make to my study programme; I´m on my last year at the university so I can look back and thing about all the subjects, tests, internships, order about the signatures, etc. that I would like to remove or change. Actually as students have fought all this years for a few of things that we consider wrong or not good enough for our learning, some of them have changed but not at all.

Well, the firs important thing is that on our first year at the university we have a signature named “Aprendizaje” (remember that I´m studying psychology) in wich we have to do a homework using rats for a research. The problem is that these rats live in poor conditions and also are used for experiments that have been making many times after so they are not necessary at all, and ethically it´s supposed that you can only research with animals when is necessary for a new results on an investigation and when you use as little animals as possible; neither of the two ethical conditions are met in this case. So, we thing that we shouldn’t make our research with rats because it´s not necessary and is unethical, that is the first change that I consider extremely necessary.

The second thing that I thing  important to be changed is that we have our internship on our last year at the university so we spend four years of our career without experience and come to our last year thinking that we don´t know anything. For this situation I thing that we should have little internship since our second year at the career.

Favorite Book

Hi everyone, we accord like class that we going to write about our favourite book, but actually this matter is difficult to write for me because I don´t have a good memory and I don´t remember the books I´ve read, also I haven´t read so many books in my life (or I haven´t finished them, I´m good for read two books at the same time and don’t finish neither of the two). But… if I have to think one appear on my mind immediately “The little prince”, this is a book that I read when I was 10 years old approximately and I didn´t finish it of course, but I read again when I was bigger because I remembered some part of the books and I liked those parts very much, also I used them for some activities on CPJ (The pastoral I participated that I mentioned on other post), or write them on letters, on present to my friends and family, on my notebooks, etc. So I thought that if I used those parts of the book I have to read it again and finish it, I did it and I liked so much! I think don’t matter the age when you read this book, it always going to have something to teach you, about the love, the creativity, the friendship, etc.

     

But if I think on a book that I´ve read recently and I have finished it, “The Winners” by Julio Cortazar is one of my favourites because is entertaining to read and at the same time let you think about important themes of life.  

Summer Holidays

Hi, the post I’ll write today is about my planes for these holidays. These holidays has been and will be a peculiars ones, because are the first holidays for me with classes (English) and a long job (in others holidays I has worked for two or three week but not more, and only for make money for my summer journeys).

So, I´m started my internship on December 2017 but in an informal way, I´ll start officially on March 2018 because I talked with the people who I going to work and we agreed that I could have vacations on February. So I was planning go to Bolivia for a month with my partner, we have never been in this country before and we have heard so many good commentaries about it, the first good thing is that you can found so many different landscapes (jungle, desert, colonially cities, lagoon beaches, etc.) and second one is that is a good place to go like a student person (with not so much money to spend) because is very cheap; you can lunch with $2.000 (Chilean pesos) and sleep in a place with $3.000 (a hostel, with bed, shower and everything).

     

But… we don´t know if we´ll can do this trip because we worked together on a short job for recollect money to this journey, and they not pay us yet they are late and don´t know when they could pay us. So, we want go out any way (we don´t like Santiago with this hot clime!) and take a rest from ours studies and works, for that we are thinking in alternative options like go out in Chile just for two weeks or something like that (just in case that they don’t pay us on January). 

Post-Graduate studies

Today I´m going to talk about a postgraduate study I would like to do in the future.

I'm studying psychology but I´m in my last year, so I had been thinking about what
I would like to do when I finish this year, specially because I have to postulate to
“Beca Chile” if I want study in other country (because I don't have the money),
thinking that I would like to do this project probably the next year or in the next two
years.

Right now I´m doing my internship in the community psychology area, but I also would
like to work on the future in the educational psychology area, and probably can work in
a community and educational work at the same time.  For that, I would like to do a
postgraduate on educational psychology, specifically on a university with a critical
perspective and preferentely not in Chile.

On this moment, my brother is working on California (in the first place he went to study
a postgraduate on mathematica) and he's planning to get married with his girlfriend
(american girl) soon, so probably he will live on San Francisco for ever or a lot of time.
For that reason I would like to do my postgraduate study in this city, and also because
on the university of California I can study the subject I mentioned.

My future job

When I start my studies at the University, I just knew that I wanted have a job that let me work with people, I never could imagine my self been stuck behind a desk. On that way, psychology seemed to be perfect for me, because you interact with people all the time, especially if you have a consulting room, interaction is the work in itself in that case.

But now that I´m ending my studies, I had discovered a lot of areas of psychology and not only the clinical one. On this way, I knew an area named community psychology where you can work with groups of people on vulnerability situation; also you can work on public policies, or participating on investigations about his stuff. I like this area because I´m interesting on social problems, and I think that I can be a contribution for this problems if I work in this stuff.

Now, I´m doing my internship on a public program and I pretend work in places like that on the future too.  Although I didn’t see my self working on a desk, but now I would like to work on public programs at the same time that I could work doing investigation, and for that job I probably will combine field work with office work.

For other way is important to me, and one of the reasons I would like to work on public programs, have a flex-time work because I like to have time for do other thing like art, community projects, spend time with friends and family, if I have something similar on the future (jaja), etc. 

FOOD, a lot of food

Hi everyone, today I’m going to talk about food, supposedly I must talk about my favourite food, but… it´s too difficult for me chose just one and talk about food like it was something that we just eat. Food has been for many countries, tribes, religions, etc. a symbol that mean something more about their cultures and life style. Food can also be considerate art, a very central part of your life style, a way to demonstrate that you care for your close people your family, your friends, etc. also can be a way to protest (not eating for example) or be consequence with a politic posture  (like vegetarianism).

In the last years, the healthy diet has been considerate much more important in our life style, not just on public policies (we also could discuss about how good enough has been this policies, and if this has been results, important and good results), also on a fashion way. We can see on Instagram, YouTube, Facebook and all this social networks a lot of healthy diet pages that a lot of people follow its.  We can see a lot of people taking photos on their food; make them like as truly piece of art. So… yes, I thing that food is much more that something we just eat. And well, for me is one of the most important things of my life, I really enjoy cooking, watching recipes, been careful with my diet, etc.  and the most important: food is the way I spoil the people that I love.

The Pope's visit

Today I´m going to talk about the Pope´s visit to Chile on this January, a point has caused controversy this last months. Well, talk about this result a little difficult to me because it is causing controversy on me and mi private life… I´m going to tell you.

My family -actually my mom, especially her and her parents and brothers (and sisters) - are very catholic, or unless their use to be, now my mom just consider herself like a catholic person but she doesn’t go to the church or anything like that. Anyway, the fact is that I also use to considered myself like a catholic person, actually I use to participate on a pastoral and young people group, but recently I decided be sincere with myself and thought that in the reality I don´t believe on the catholic postulates, I´m also so angry with the catholic institution, with all the abuses, with the power they have, and a lot stuff that make me reconsider the religion thing and think that actually I´m not a catholic person… I don´t want to be one and be accomplice to these abuses.

Well, in this way, I´m feel pressure to go to the pope´s activities for my family and my catholic past, but I also think that I don´t want to go and be accomplice again, thinking about the all money that the country are spending on this visit, and also because we are supposedly a  secular state. And also I have to recognise that It´s seem not at all interesting to me. 

The best concert I've ever had

Hi everyone! Today I´m going to talk about the best concert I have gone. Actually, I´m not go to concerts frequently,  I like them very much, but I´m not good enough planning with time this stuff, so the most of the time I can´t get my ticket because they always sold out before.

Anyway, I´m going to choose like my favourite concert the last one I went because this is the one that I better remember, and of course for other things that I’m going to tell you later. I went this year to “Perota Chingo” concert, on August or September… I don´t remember so well, and the concert was in “Cúpula theater”.

Perota Chingo is an argentine group that started making covers and making small tours for Latin America, then they started to be more famous and came to Chile this year with their second album: “Aguas”.

I think that it was my best concert because I went with a cousin that also likes this group very much and we canned enjoy it together, also we had time to spend time together and canned talk about so many topic that we wanted to talk and we never had done it.

A country I would like to visit

If I think about a place I would like to know, so many countries and natural places appear on my mind. But at the same time, appear a lot of obstacles for that, like the money, time enough, the work, the studies, etc.

In that way, It´s hard to me decide just one place or country that I would like to visit and that to be possible to me (for money, time and all that stuff), but if I have to say one, this probably would be Norway. And in that Country I would like to visit specially the places where you can see the Northern Lights, and where you can learn and appreciate the Viking Culture. For example, I would like to visit the Viking Ship Museum in Oslo, Viking Museum of Lofotr in Borg, Lofoten island, ant other places.

I haven´t wanted to visit this places since so much time, actually, it is something that has captures my interest recently, and the reasons are two principals: the first one is because I always have been interested by the northern Lights, I think there are very beautiful and mysterious (but also very natural and explained by atmospheric phenomenon). And the second one is because I´m very interested by Viking culture (Especially now that I’m seen the series), and I would like to know the places where they lived.
